CD50: Arcade Mode
# CD50
"Balatro but with classic arcade games instead of poker."
CD50 is a collection of classic arcade games from the 70s and 80s remade in Godot, and remixes of those games' nouns and verbs into unexpected combinations. These remakes and remixes are bound together by a Balatro-inspired system of modifiers, with the main goal of the game being to chase ever higher scores by breaking the logic of the game with combinations of these modifiers.
# Polybius
"I hunger for score."
Polybius is your digital jailer. He will judge you, he will mock you, and if you set a new high score, he will only demand more.
# The Games
## Dogfight
Survive a brutal gauntlet of enemies in this classic quarter muncher from 197■! They will stop at nothing, and your death is guaranteed — how many can you take down with you?
## Meteor Rally
The paddle. The void. Rocks that do not break — they BOUNCE. Meteor Rally dares to ask: what if Paddle Ball and Space Rocks collided? The answer is pure chaos. Keep the ball alive. Dodge the space_rocks. Accept that nothing is safe.
## Rock Breaker
Someone put a Brick Breaker playfield inside an asteroid field. The rocks bounce off the walls. Your ball destroys everything in its path. The space_rocks fight back. Clear the field — or become part of it.
## Bug Drop
They crawl UPWARD. You drop blocks DOWNWARD. Complete a row — any row — with tetrominos OR bugs and it clears. But the invaders march relentlessly toward the top, and one breach means GAME OVER. A nightmare fusion of Block Drop and Bug Blaster that should not exist — but it does.
## Space Bugs
Space Rocks drift. Invaders attack. You are one ship against TWO extinction-level threats from completely different games. Space Bugs mashes Bug Blaster's relentless alien swarm with Space Rocks' drifting, splitting debris field into one beautiful, unsurvivable mess.
## Planetary Attack!
You ARE the invasion. Command the alien swarm — march left, march right, descend. Those pathetic defenders have shields, cannons, and the home field advantage. You have numbers. Reach the bottom and claim this world for the empire. A complete reversal of Bug Blaster that puts you in charge of the assault.
## Space Rocks Inverted
The rocks are back — but YOU are the rock. Drift. Bounce. Split. Destroy everything in your path. The hunters have become the hunted. A complete inversion of Space Rocks where you ARE the asteroid field.
## Paddle Ball
The original. The classic. Two paddles, one ball, and nothing but your reflexes between you and defeat. First to score wins. There are no second chances in 197■.
## Brick Breaker
Row after row of bricks. One paddle. One ball. An entire field of destruction standing between you and victory. Don't drop the ball.
## Space Rocks
Drift through an endless field of debris. Your ship is fragile, your ammo is limited, and the rocks keep coming. One touch means death — but the big ones always split into something worse.
## Block Drop
Stack. Clear. Survive. The blocks fall faster, the gaps get tighter, and one wrong move can end everything. How long can you keep the pile down?
## Bug Blaster
They march. They descend. They will not stop until they have reached the ground and your defenses are rubble. Four shields are all that stand between you and extinction. Pick them off one by one — or be overwhelmed.
# The Modifiers
Before each run, select from a locker of ILLEGAL MODIFICATIONS that rewrite the rules of every game:
- **Scope Creep** — Double the health of the player. You're gonna need it.
- **Shotgun Mode** — Why fire one bullet when you can fire three?
- **Overclocked CPU** — Everything moves 25% faster. Including the enemies.
- **Feature Creep** — Double the enemies. Double the chaos. Double the score.
- **Crunch Time** — One life. Score multiplied by three. No pressure.
Modifiers unlock as your lifetime score climbs. Combine them freely. Break the game open.
